Sentencing training for defense counsel
coming to Iowa Northern District
May 24 and 26, 2016
The U.S. Probation Office has invited the U.S. Sentencing Commission (USSC) to the Northern District of Iowa for training during the week of May 23rd. The USSC will be at the United States Courthouse in Cedar Rapids on May 24th and conduct training in the Jury Assembly Room. They will then conduct training in Sioux City on May 26th at the Stoney Creek Hotel. CJA Panel attorneys, federal defender staff, Judges and their staff, and U.S. Probation staff will be invited. CLE credit will be provided for attorneys. Training topics will include recent amendments to the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines, 8th Circuit case law updates, relevant conduct, and any updates relative to Johnson v. United States or Welch v. United States.
