|District recognized among productive courts|
In 2015 the Northern District of Iowa was among several Eighth Circuit districts recognized as one of America’s most productive federal district courts. This is the fifth year in a row the Northern District of Iowa has achieved this distinction. This ranking is based on bench presence and the cases tried by the active district judges in the court. As of September 30, 2015, the Northern District of Iowa ranked first in the nation for trials per judgeship, and in the top ten nationally for criminal felony filings and supervised release hearings per judgeship. The district court was also ranked third in the nation for disposition median time for civil cases, and twelfth in the nation for criminal cases, reflecting the hard work done throughout the year to provide justice for the American people in a timely manner.
