Annual Admission Fee

Pursuant to Administrative Order 18-AO-0005-P dated August 8, 2018, the Northern and Southern Districts of Iowa no longer require biennial continuing legal education (CLE) reporting.

To remain in good standing, each attorney is required to pay an annual admission fee of $25 to each district where they are admitted. The annual fee is due by March 1st of each year. See Local Rule 83(c)(4).

As we transition to the new model outlined in Local Rule 83, please be aware:

     1.  Any duplicate payments made to satisfy the Annual Admission Fee will be applied to the following year.  

     2.  Attorneys admitted pro hac vice are not required to pay the Annual Admission Fee.

Instructions to Pay the Annual Admission Fee in CM/ECF:

  1. Go to the web page for the appropriate district you are renewing admission for and log in to the CM/ECF system:

           Northern District:

           Southern District:

***Note: The Northern and Southern Districts have separate filing systems. If you are admitted to both districts, you must log in separately to each district to pay the filing fee in each district.  When logging in to the Northern District, you must use your CM/ECF login and password, not your PACER login information.  If you have trouble logging in to the Northern District, complete the CM/ECF Online Password Reset Form. A new password will be emailed to you. Each attorney must pay the filing fee using their own CM/ECF login and password. One attorney cannot login and pay the fee for another attorney. Multiple attorneys cannot submit one payment.

  1. On the blue menu bar at the top click: 

  • Civil
  • Annual Admission Fee
  • On the next screen click 'Annual Admission Fee'
  • Click 'Next'
  • Click 'Next'
  • Answer 'Yes' or 'No'; click 'Next'
  • Review your CM/ECF account information, update if necessary, click 'Next'
  • Click 'Next'
  • Click 'Next' to continue to payment screen in in  ***Do not click the back button.***              
  1. The Notice of Electronic Filing will appear. You should print this for your records. You will not receive an email confirmation of this filing, but you will receive a receipt from
