Case Management/Electronic Case Filing (CM/ECF)

***Electronic filing is mandatory.***

All lawyers admitted to practice before the court, including lawyers admitted pro hac vice in civil cases (see Local Rule 83(d)(3)(B)) and criminal cases (see Local Rule 83(d)(3)(C)), must register to participate in the court's CM/ECF system, and must electronically file all documents with the court unless otherwise required or authorized by the Local Rules, the CM/ECF Procedures Manual, the Clerk of Court or the court.

Cases must be commenced in the proper district and division of the court.  The Northern District of Iowa Division Map shows the divisions within the Northern District of Iowa, as well as the counties within each division.  Please refer to this map to decide which division your case should be filed in and complete the Civil Cover Sheet accordingly.
